Overview of position
Editor-in-Chief, International Journal of Language and Communication Disorders (IJLCD)

We are seeking an Editor-in-Chief for the IJLCD to co-lead our supportive editorial team from December 2023. 
 
The IJLCD is an international, peer-reviewed journal, which draws together findings from research in language and communication disorders. The IJLCD is published in six issues per year, with occasional special issues.
 
The role of Editor-in-Chief is a senior leadership position in SLT research. It offers the post-holder the opportunity to lead on strategic and editorial development of the journal, to maximise the dissemination of high-quality research in the field of communication disorders and related SLT activities

The role
The successful candidate for this position will:
 
  • Have a PhD in a relevant academic discipline
  • Possess a proven track record in research (peer-reviewed publications, presentations at conferences and/or other research enabling activities)
  • Have extensive experience handling peer-review
  • Have a working understanding of the changes affecting research publishing and Open Access
  • Have experience in leadership and strategic development
  • Commit to carrying out the role for a minimum term of three years
 
Experience as an SLT and membership of the RCSLT are desirable

The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) is the professional body for speech and language therapists (SLTs) across the UK. The RCSLT support SLTs by providing leadership, setting professional standards, facilitating research, promoting better education, and training.

The RCSLT team consists of over 70 staff who offer support to over 21,000 members. Colleagues are predominantly based in the London office and others in Belfast, Edinburgh, and Cardiff offices.
